LEADERSHIP BEGINNINGS: STYLE AND STYLE IMPACT

This intensive course is intended for those who are moving toward or are already in leadership roles that would like to develop the highest level of persuasive leadership skills. The participant is guided through an in-depth understanding of their leadership style, barriers, preferences, and strategies for becoming an admirable leader.

Of particular importance, the course allows one to examine their style in unhealthy, healthy, and evolved stages, focusing on those characteristics and behaviors that allow one to increase their leadership effectiveness in a short period of time.

BUILDING EFFECTIVE TEAMS: INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP DYNAMICS

There are many diverse forces, needs, and perceptions at work within any team. To maintain and nurture an effective team and to be able to predict their success, it is important to assess the strengths, weaknesses, and needs of the individuals on the team. Assessing the role the individual plays in relationship to the above goals is essential and it is equally important to know what skills are required in order for the team to succeed. It is not simply a matter of offering a “cookie-cutter” solution to everyone.

Interactive and experiential, this course will substantially increase the participant’s understanding of how effective teams function and how the participant can become a better team player and build a more effective team.

DANCING WITH CONFLICT FOR LEADERS

This course focuses on the skill of constructive discontent, the ability to remain comfortably uncomfortable in conflict. Constructive discontent is the number one characteristic by which one’s leadership in the workplace is judged and remembered. Increasing one’s ability to give and receive critical feedback in a positive and healthy manner is essential to positive, accountable leadership and developing trust with one’s team.

LEADERSHIP THROUGH EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Emotional intelligence is the degree to which one can direct the flow, energy, and intention of their emotional machinery at will, regardless of the circumstances. Coming under fire, operating under pressure, dealing with conflict, confronting problematic relationships at work… all of these have the tendency to drive the leader into the worst of themselves. This hands-on course is intended to challenge one in a healthy and appropriate manner about their emotional intelligence so that, without exception, they will leave as a better leader and a better person.

Through individual and group activities, the Leadership through Emotional Intelligence course serves as a valuable and lasting tool in helping one reach their leadership goals. This course pays careful attention to the development of a strong foundation in emotional intelligence.

LEADING WITH INTEGRITY

The absence of integrity penetrates the core of our social, political, professional, and family lives. The absence of trust and the failure to develop, nurture, and repair relationships disrupts workplace environments. This course is designed to look at different stages of integrity and the natural results of each stage. Participants are provided with clear descriptions and identifiable characteristics of each stage, as well as suggestions and strategies for moving up the ladder into higher levels of responsibility, performance, and organizational innovation.

ESSENCE OF EXCELLENCE

This course reveals the nature of excellence by first examining the nature of mediocrity and how it is created in groups and teams. The nature of the excellence model comprises seven (7) central areas of group dynamics and processes that are carefully studied and profiled.

When these dynamics are not honored, articulated, and protected by leadership as well as team members, mediocrity can creep into each of these crucial areas and erode the possibility of excellence and high-functioning environments. Mediocrity predictably becomes the new benchmark by which the team is known, although the team may be completely unaware of this condition. When under stress and feeling overloaded, individuals and teams begin to normalize the abnormal and insist that working harder will solve all woes.

The second part of the course reveals the descriptions and operational standards of each of these same seven dynamics when they are part of high-performing teams and legacy leadership behaviors.

MENTORING: CULTIVATING LEADERSHIP

Mentoring is the act of giving, sharing, and teaching wisdom in order to develop leaders. Highly effective mentoring incorporates the invisible dynamics of cause and effect and the un-measurable elements of perception and change.

In powerful mentoring relationships, the mentor is fully aware that the wisdom the mentee needs to improve life and work is an internal process. The mentor is fully aware that the true mentee-mentor role is a symbiotic one, one in which the role of mentor and mentee is often reversed in that both parties in the relationship learn from each other. The mentor is fully aware that true learning for the mentee results in change and that change is the desired outcome of the relationship.

This course is dedicated to helping leaders move toward being a developer of leaders through the art of mentorship.

WELLNESS AND HEALTHY CHOICES FOR LEADERS

Our world is facing unprecedented challenges that are altering every dimension of our culture. The political, economic, and financial climates have created unpredictability, lack of personal control, and rapid change for many individuals. This accelerated level of stress in our culture is seen by the American Medical Association as the leading cause of addictions and illness, as well as premature aging and death. It is clear that the individual must find an internal balance to skillfully negotiate the ever-changing terrain with optimism and purpose.

There is a clear relationship between mind and body; and wellness of the body is a by-product of wellness of the mind. Wellness of the mind is the ability to identify, manage, and minimize negative patterns and as a result, choose positive states of being.

Wellness and Healthy Choices teaches leaders who are inundated with daily responsibilities on how to trigger natural relaxation processes in the body and to develop an effective personal response to stress and conflict. Unchecked tension, anger, frustration, and insecurity are all negative triggers of stress that can easily erode well-being and the ability to make effective decisions. Discovering repetitive patterns that keep one stuck in these negative emotional states is highlighted. Increasing awareness of inner resources to productively handle stress is also emphasized.

POWERFUL LEADERSHIP

Each of us has our own unique features that determine our style of leadership. This course is dedicated to increasing the participant’s understanding of the forces that have shaped their leadership, and the dynamics affecting the future of their leadership. The participant will also see the path available for their continued evolution into their most powerful self.

With this increased understanding of the origins of their leadership, the participant will find they are able to recognize and alter negative patterns in which they engage and make more conscious choices. It is a powerful leadership language as the participant leads others to a greater understanding of their own labyrinth of survival strategies and default behaviors. This course will allow the participant to see themselves and others more compassionately and also more powerfully. Through that lens, one can truly lead.

INFLUENCE, PERSUASION, AND PRESENCE FOR LEADERS

Having an executive presence helps leaders project a powerful and open presence, allowing them to effectively interact with and influence others. A truly dynamic leader understands their impact on others, both verbal and nonverbal, and how to use their presence to motivate and inspire their followers. Participants in this course learn how to gauge their impact on others and strategies for creating a more dynamic presence for themselves, positively impacting all facets of their lives.

ESSENTIALS OF DELEGATION

Delegation is an essential skill for every leader and often one that is handled incorrectly or not used effectively. Too many leaders, especially new ones, think of delegation as passing off work to direct reports when it is really an excellent way to develop skills and organizational competencies of their followers as well as for developing future leaders. This course covers the importance of delegation and provides a five-step process for ensuring effective delegation– starting with handing the right task to the right person at the right time.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT: CREATING A POSITIVE WORK EXPERIENCE

An engaged workforce is critical for any organization, especially in times of reduced resources. Employee disengagement has been linked to absenteeism, turnover, poor customer satisfaction, and meager bottom-line results. Employees in today’s workforce are seeking more from their jobs than just a paycheck; they also desire satisfaction and fulfillment. Employee engagement starts with the leader. A good leader understands how to motivate and inspire their employees to be committed to both the leader and the organization, which is the focus of this course. Participants will be provided with an overview of employee engagement as well as provided with customized strategies for inspiring and motivating their employees, based on their individual leadership style.
