Maximizing Innovation

Jul 03, 2017

Using the process of Design Thinking is an effective strategy for maximizing innovation. Design Thinking is a creative methodology used to solve complex problems and find desirable solutions through analysis and imagination. A design mindset is important to innovation because it is solution-focused, and action-oriented. According to Tim Brown, author of Change by Design (2009), “design thinking will help you explore more ideas more quickly than you could otherwise.” He recommends seeking outside help to expand an innovation team.

Design Thinking is key to effective organizational strategy development and change. It can also be applied to innovation involving products, services, processes, and anything else that needs to be optimized for human interaction. The goal of Design Thinking in the innovation process is to provide a mindset about creating what is possible with an expectation of success in implementing a change that becomes a workable solution.
