Changing Your Thoughts to Gain Time

How do we make time for what’s most important in our lives instead of feeling like we’re always falling behind? How can we regain our time so we can live a more meaningful life? Many of us are longing to have more time even though we know there are only 24 hours in a day.

The first step in getting more time is to change our mindset about how we live our lives. Most of us define a “productive” life by our level of activity or how much we produce with the resources and time we have. On the other hand, when we think about living an “effective” life, we engage in specific actions that produce desired outcomes and we use our time differently. The key to being effective is to focus with intention on what you want to accomplish, consciously choosing what you are doing, and setting yourself up to do it. When you’re effective, you have more time and your productivity automatically increases.

The second step is to change how you think about time. Thinking about time as “yours” allows you to consciously choose how you use it and gives you the power to use time in accomplishing specific actions for yourself. This thought process allows you to take charge of your life.

The mindset of being effective gives you “more” time because you are clear about what is most important to you and what you want to accomplish. This allows you to balance your time and resources to meet your goals. The time you have in your life depends on whether you’re living a “productive” or “effective” life. How much time do you have in your life?
